ENVIRONMENTAL
ISSUES
Oil spills and ballast water
discharge in the seas and oceans have had adverse effect on all kinds of marine
lives. They have destroyed fish habitats, other marine animals and even effected
marine birds on the shores.
Although oil spills are hard to control before
happening, but strict government regulations have been put into effect for
ballast water treatment before disposal in the sea within International
borders.
Other environmental issues are waste water treatment,
food processing waste separation and other similar solid from liquid separation
needs.
In all these cases Yaz-Dehydrone can be effectively used to deal with such separations.
The product,
Yaz-Dehydrone, consists of TWO distinct
apparatus with specific claims for each of
them in the Patent. They are,
A- An Apparatus and Method for separating a HEAVY PHASE
from a LIGHT PHASE , where the light phase is predominant.
B- An Apparatus and Method for separating a LIGHT PHASE
from a HEAVY PHASE, where the heavy phase is predominant.
Apparatus (A) was primarily designed
for the Oil Industry as a desalting /de-watering vessel in order to separate
formation water and salt crystals from crude oil. This Apparatus, however, is
capable of separating Solids from Liquids, Solids from Gases and Liquids from
Gases, with practically no modification to the actual design.
Apparatus (B),
however, was primarily designed as a skimmer of crude oil spills and for use in
cleaning large bodies of water from oil or oil products. The Apparatus, although
uses the same method of centrifugal separation , as in (A), but it is different
in configuration and disposal method. Apparatus (B) is intended to be placed on
a barge or on an oil tanker, where the mixture of sea water and oil or ballast
water containing residual oil is pumped through it. The separated water is
returned directly to the sea, while pumping continues, and the oil is disposed
off in specific tanks in the barge or the tanker.
